The Browning Scholarship honors one of St. Joseph’s long time benefactors – Val Browning. The Browning family has long supported St. Joseph in various ways and The Browning Scholarship is one way to honor that long time support.
Scholarship Details:The Browning Scholarship will be distributed evenly over four years, with students receiving $4,000 each year towards the cost of tuition. Once at St. Joseph, students will be expected to maintain good academic and behavioral standing in order for the scholarship to be renewed each year for four consecutive years.
Qualifications:In order to be eligible for the Browning Scholarship, students must successfully complete the eighth grade at an accredited school in Utah.
Application Requirements:To apply for the Browning Scholarship, students must also apply for admission to St. Joseph by the priority deadline of January 22, 2021. A full scholarship application must be received online by January 22, 2021.
Selection Process:A review of all scholarship applications will be conducted between January 25-29, with invitations extended to finalists on Feburary 2. Finalist interviews will be conducted on January 30 (either in-person or via Zoom), and scholarships will be awarded on February 11th. Finalists will be selected based on the cumulative growth and achievement described in their scholarship application.
Renewal Details:In order for an incoming student to receive $4,000 for their freshman year, students must complete priority placement testing and registration prior to March 1, 2021. The family must also complete a tuition contract and payment agreement no later than March 31, 2021. In order for a rising freshman to receive $4,000 towards their sophomore year, students must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or better and be in good disciplinary standing. After the freshman year, students will be eligible to receive the equivalent award based on their cumulative GPA at the end of their sophomore and junior year. In addition to the above expectations, students will be asked to reflect on their growth at the end of each school year. These reflections will be facilitated by the Scholarship Committee, and will be either written or in-person. The Browning Scholarship will be awarded through a reduction of the student’s cost of tuition at the beginning of each school year’s payment cycle. No monies will be distributed directly to the student or family. The Browning Scholarship is only applicable towards tuition, and cannot be used towards other costs. Students may also receive a financial aid award in addition to the Browning Scholarship, however no award will exceed the cost of tuition.Discretionary Statement: St. Joseph Catholic High School reserves the right to revoke the Browning Scholarship from any student whose behavior or actions do not reflect our institution’s values or directly violate the Student Handbook.

Tours
Tours are scheduled purposefully during the school day so that the visitor may see the actual interaction between the teachers and students, and students with students. Students are engaged in learning and an atmosphere of respect permeates the entire student body.
Drop Ins are always welcome. If time permits, an unscheduled tour may be given, especially if the visitor is visiting from out of state and has limited time. Tours work best for all involved, when they are scheduled at least 24 hours ahead of time.
Shadows
Students are invited to "shadow" an existing SJCHS student for a day. In this way they get first hand experience of a day in the life of a SJCHS student.
After following a 4 period schedule, complete with morning prayer, nutrition break, lunch and announcements, prospective students often return home excited about beginning their high school career at Saint Joseph Catholic High School.
Shadow days must be scheduled at least 24 hours ahead of time to allow us the opportunity to match the prospective student with an existing student of their age, gender and some common interests - which will be reflected in the class schedule.
Visit Anytime
Parents and students may find themselves on our end of town and may wish to stop by for some general information. Please, stop by anytime. We would love to take the time to answer any questions you may have and give you some literature about the school for you to read. We can also schedule a tour or shadow day.
Both tours and shadow days can be scheduled by calling the office at 801-394-1515 ext 05.
